Dr. R Scott Knierim, D.D.S.
Dr. R. Scott Knierim is an honor graduate of West Virginia University School of Dentistry with a degree of Doctor of Dental Surgery. He and his wife Karen moved to Charlottesville in 1976 and raised two sons, Hunter and Erik. Dr. Knierim is a career long member of the American Dental Association, the Virginia Dental Association, the Charlottesville and Albemarle Dental Society. He practices comprehensive general family dentistry.
His special interest in dentistry revolves around prevention and patient education to achieve and maintain a high level of dental health. He is proud that many families have become his patients and have been with him for decades. Dr. Knierim has other strong interests which include international adventure travel, photography, fishing, old style construction techniques with stone masonry, timber frame design, blacksmithing, and water well drilling.
Dr. Brad Swisher, D.D.S.
Dr. Brad Swisher was born and raised in South Charleston, West Virginia. He graduated from South Charleston High School International Baccalaureate Program. He attended West Virginia Wesleyan College and received a B.S. in Biology and a B.A. in Chemistry. Dr. Swisher also took many computer science classes to gain knowledge in his interest for technology.
Dr. Swisher is an Honor graduate from West Virginia University Doctor of Dental Surgery Program. His philosophy is based on preventive dentistry and patient education to achieve optimal oral and general health. He has had the opportunity to experience a wide variety of new technology currently being introduced into dentistry. He is enthusiastic about offering the best possible treatment for patients based on their own individual needs. As a general dentist, he is currently practicing comprehensive family dentistry. He is devoted to advanced training and attends the best continuing education courses.
Dr. Swisher received several awards in Dental School: The Sabe Issac Howard Memorial Scholarship, Best of the Best Whip Mix Prosthodontics Award, President of Dental Class, Honors Program, and graduated in the top percentage of his class. He is a member of the American Dental Association, Academy of General Dentistry, Charlottesville Albemarle Dental Society, and the Shenandoah Valley Dental Society.
Dr. Swisher loves the outdoors. He is an avid snowboarder and motorcyclist. He enjoys spending time with his family and Boxer “Zoey”. Dr. Swisher spent most of his childhood going on fishing trips and spending time near the beach.
Dr. Katy Brandt
Dr. Katy Brandt is a graduate of the University of Iowa College of Dentistry with a degree of Doctor of Dental Surgery. She also completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Iowa. She was born and raised in Des Moines, IA and recently relocated to Charlottesville.
She received Public Health certificate during dental school and enjoys participating in community outreach and public health events. She also received several leadership awards for her work with the Iowa American Student Dental Association. Her practice philosophy is centered around patient care, with open communication and a focus on prevention, in addition to treatment. She is a general practice dentist.
She enjoys traveling, baking and watching Hawkeye football. She is excited to become part of the Charlottesville dental community.
Dr. Mark P. Sapon
Dr. Mark Sapon is a graduate of West Virginia University where he earned a Bachelors Degree in Biology and then a Doctorate of Dental Surgery from West Virginia School of Dentistry.
He is a member of the American Dental Association, The Academy of General Dentistry, and Charlottesville-Albemarle Dental Society.
His primary focus in practice is providing quality dental care in a gentle, comprehensive manner with an emphasis on positive and caring patient relationships.
He enjoys playing golf, watching WVU football and basketball, and spending time with his wife Meaghan and their two boys, Mason and Landon.
Mary graduated from Charlottesville High School. She attended PVCC to study business management. She enjoys reading, traveling, and spending time with her friends, family, and 4 dogs. Mary can be found greeting our patients when you walk in the door. She has great communication skills and is always doing her best to make sure patients are scheduled and informed.
Stacy grew up in Charleston, WV. She earned her Bachelors Degree in Finance and Accounting from Shepherd University, as well as, a Masters in Business Administration from the University of Charleston. She and her family moved to Charlottesville in 2010. Stacy is a member of the Lake Monticello Volunteer Water Rescue Team and was an EMT-B with the Lake Monticello Rescue Squad. She is a CPR and First Aid instructor. She enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, scuba diving, whitewater kayaking, and fishing.
Kim grew up in Fluvanna County and currently resides here in Charlottesville. She has attended Piedmont Virginia Community College for basic courses and will continue to work towards a degree in Radiology. She spends her free time antique shopping, reading, zumba dancing and baking fabulous cupcakes!
Mandy A native of Gordonsville, VA, Mandy got her start in dentistry as a dental hygiene assistant in 2003. She graduated from Bridgewater College in 2005 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Allied Health Science and from East Tennessee State University in 2008 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Dental Hygiene. When not working, Mandy enjoys spending time with her family, attending church, and exploring the outdoors.
Kendyl grew up in Prince George, Va her whole life and recently moved to Charlottesville for a great opportunity to be part of the Sapon & Swisher Dental, PLLC Team. She recently graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University in May 2012 with a Bachelors of Science in Dental Hygiene. Her main philosophy is to make patient comfortable during their appointment and spreading the word about the importance of oral health. When she isn’t in the office, Kendyl loves to go running and show her 5 gaited American Saddlebred horse “Albert”.
